At one point or another, most of us have probably experienced nights where we had trouble sleeping or bouts of difficulty getting asleep. This is called insomnia. Sometimes we are aware of the reasons we experience insomnia but most of us do not. Most people with insomnia scratch their head wondering why they cannot sleep and asking what could be done to have it gone. Well there are countless techniques in doing so, some natural and some not. Today, we are going to look at some of those natural cures. We are also going to check out and list down the things that we want to avoid to minimize our chances of experiencing insomnia in the first place.
We want natural cures for the obvious reasons. That is, we believe that nature has the cure for mankind's sicknesses there is in the world and the only thing we have to do is search for it. In many ways, it is true. We hear of people getting cured (not necessarily insomnia) by just eating some fruit or vegetable. We might read about the water therapy that can help in curing some other disorders. Insomnia is the same. Though insomnia is not the disorder itself (another topic worthy of discussion) but a symptom of a more serious issue, we certainly do not want to ignore it but want it to go away!
Drinking/eating milk, lettuce and honey is part of the natural cures for insomnia list. With lettuce, we can create different recipes as part of our meal intake. We can make soup, juice or tea out of it. Or we can eat it as one of the ingredients of our salad. With milk and honey, we can make a delicious drink by mixing them together with lemon. The trick is, we need to eat/drink lettuce, milk and honey a few minutes to an hour before sleeping for maximum efficiency.
Prevention is better than cure. If we can avoid insomnia altogether, better right? Why cure insomnia if you can preempt it. One of the most popular culprit for insomnia is caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant meaning it tries to make you more active and in our case keep us awake for longer hours. If you want to sleep and avoid insomnia, then avoid taking in caffeine. Caffeine can be found in coffee, colas and in drinks that we normally get addicted to (not all though...). To be sure if our drinks have caffeine, it is good to check out the description of the drink.
Then there is also the factor of lifestyle. Are we always stressed? Does anxiety overcome us? Hopefully not. But if you are experiencing insomnia, then these could have caused it. The point is, one of the ways to avoid insomnia is by avoiding being stressed and anxious. Why not create a schedule to organize your daily activities? Set realistic goals that you can achieve? Those can help to lower your level of stress. With regards to anxiety, planning is also important. We normally get anxious if we do not have a plan in life. We think about the future and feel unsafe. So get your chair, write down a plan to lessen your anxieties. However, there are some things that you can't plan for. You can't plan each and every thing aspect of life. That is where the saying, "Cross the bridge when we get there..." comes into play.
Thus, insomnia is not something uncontrollable. There are ways to avoid it and there are natural ways to treat and cure it. Choose one of the techniques above and get rid of your insomnia naturally.
